Sheffield University Wind Orchestra

Sheffield University Wind Orchestra is an award winning dynamic group of young musicians drawn from across the University. Our concert schedule is often filled with regular performances in Sheffield, London and a yearly tour to Europe that enable us to explore a wide variety of repertoire written for symphonic wind band. From Leuven Cathedral in Belgium to St. Paul’s Church in Covent Garden to Weston Park Band Stand in Sheffield, we perform suitable high quality concerts that show our enthusiasm & enjoyment.

Formed in 2000 by the continuing director Anthony Houghton, SUWO has grown from performing one or two concerts a year to being one of the most dynamic musical groups at the University. SUWO is also proud to be providing opportunities for student conductors and to première new works by students and keen composers.
